From its modest beginnings in 1976 and subsequent incorporation in 1996 as a
501 ( c ) 3 charity, the Ulster Community College Foundation, Inc. has matured into a multi-million dollar organization that provides educational opportunities and cultural activities to enrich the lives of SUNY Ulster students and the community at large.

The Foundation's phenomenal growth has been marked by a number of major achievements:

  • Its assets have doubled in less than a decade, growing to $5,272,353 in 2007 from $2,033,879 in 1997.
  • Scholarship recipients have tripled, jumping from 65 in 1980 to 204 in 2007.
  • Annual scholarships have grown tenfold from $15,000 to as much as $150,000.
  • The Trust for Technology Campaign (1999 - 2004) raised nearly $500,000 dollars in donations and an additional $1 million in grants and appropriations.
  • Planned Giving, launched in 2001, has received several major bequests, including the largest bequest in the history of the Foundation of over one half million dollars.

The Foundation's success rests upon the generosity of its dedicated and farsighted donors. Their contributions have helped SUNY Ulster retain its position as a highly respected institution at the forefront of New York's community colleges. Hand in hand, the Foundation, students, faculty, administrators, and community members work together, supporting SUNY Ulster's goal of sustaining excellence in academic standards as it meets the challenges of the new millennium.
