Workforce and Economic Development
SUNY Ulster is an important driver of workforce and economic development in Ulster County. The College provides career development through a variety of credit and noncredit programs, and offers employment exploration, internships, career counseling and a PACE program. The Public Assistance Comprehensive Employment (PACE) program is a joint effort by SUNY Ulster and the Ulster County Department of Social Services. It assists qualifying students in successfully completing a college program and acquiring full-time employment.
The Development Center for Business (DCB) works to directly address the needs of the local workforce by providing job training (should link to customized training page). The DCB works cooperatively with local businesses, the New York State Department of Labor, and the Workforce Investment Board of Ulster County to enhance the resources available to meet current and future workforce needs.
The Business Resource Center (BRC) in Kingston, serves as the College’s extension site, and the home of the Office of Continuing and Professional Education. The BRC is a one-stop center and also houses the New York State Department of Labor and the Ulster County Office for Employment and Training.
In addition, the Small Business Development Center and the Ulster County Development Corporation are headquartered at the BRC. Together, these offices work to address economic development in Ulster County.
