You've built a website. Now what? In this class you will learn the essentials to get your website onto the Internet: domain registration, site hosting options, creating email accounts, using webmail. A thorough understanding of FTP (File Transfer Protocol), including options, directory conventions and structure will be covered. We will cover the set up and testing of forms (guest books, information requests), as well as finding and using scripts to enhance web pages. If your client wants to maintain their site, you will learn how you can facilitate that using Adobe Contribute, as well as, tricks for joint site maintenance. The essentials of E-commerce will be covered: shopping carts, merchant banks, PayPal. We will also delve into the mystery of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and website visibility. Finally, we will discuss good webmaster practices, webmaster tools, and how to keep your clients for the long term. You will receive 1.8 CEU's upon completion of the course.
