HOW TO APPLY
for Ulster Community College Foundation, Inc. Scholarships

Scholarships are available for first time students Entering SUNY Ulster, students Returning to SUNY Ulster and students at SUNY Ulster who are graduating and Transferring to four year colleges. For an overview of Foundation scholarships that are available click here. These descriptions are for information purposes only and are not to be included on your application. A selection committee will review all of the applications submitted and they will determine which scholarships each applicant is eligible for based on the information provided. There are several Scholarships that do require "Special Applications." Those are listed further down this page. Please check the "Special Applications" section to see if you meet any of those criteria.

To apply for ENTERING scholarships, click here for the Entering Student application, or contact the Admissions department at (845) 687-5022 or email Susan Weatherly at weathers@sunyulster.edu. The deadline to apply for Fall 2006-Spring 2007ENTERING scholarships is June 1, 2006.

Returning and Transferring students are required to submit one General Scholarship Application. Click here for the Returning and Transferring application. If you are unable to print the application from the website or need additional assistance, call the Foundation office at (845) 687-5293.

To be eligible for RETURNING scholarships you must have completed 12 credits at SUNY Ulster by May 31, 2006 and plan to enroll for classes during the Fall 2006-Spring 2007 academic year.
To be eligible for TRANSFERRING scholarships you must have completed 60 credit hours, of which 35 credits must have been completed at SUNY Ulster by May 31, 2006 and you must plan to transfer to a four year college during the Fall 2006-Spring 2007 academic year.
The application for RETURNING and TRANSFERRING students will be accepted through February 10, 2006 for the Fall 2006-Spring 2007 academic year.

Essay Suggestions:
A one page typed and signed essay must be submitted with the RETURNING and TRANSFERRING application. The essay should be not more than one page and include:
1) Why you chose your major
2) What your career goals are
3) Description of your volunteer work, community service or campus activities and
4) Why a scholarship would be helpful to you.

Special Applications:
One general application is used for the scholarship selection process, except for the following scholarships that require a specific application. Click on the scholarship below to view a broader description and link to the application.

Award Notification:
All Returning and Transferring applicants will receive a letter in April. Recipients are required to write thank you letters to their donors and attend a scholarship award ceremony and reception.

The transferring scholarship ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, May 4* at 7:00 pm.

The entering and returning scholarship ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, September 7* at 7:00 pm.
