Academics and Financial Aid
Satisfactory Academic Progress:
Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress to avoid losing future financial aid eligibility.
Federal Financial Aid:
All matriculated students are reviewed for satisfactory academic
progress at the end of each semester for good academic standing
(grade point average) and to determine if the student has
exceeded the 150% timeframe (six full-time equivalent semesters.)
At the end of the spring semester all students are reviewed
for pursuit of program (completion of the required number
of courses), GPA, and 150% timeframe.
New York State Financial Aid:
All TAP/APTS/EOP students are reviewed for NYS satisfactory
academic progress at the end of each semester for good academic
standing (grade point average), pursuit of program (completion
of required number of classes that apply toward the students'
program of study) and 150% timeframe (six semesters of NYS
aid or 36 TAP undergraduate points.)
Waivers:
The student completes a waiver request form and returns it
to the Financial Aid Office, with the appropriate documentation
attached, within 21 days of the student receiving the letter
of non-eligibility.
The student will receive a notice that the waiver was granted,
denied, or is pending additional documentation.
A student who fails to complete the waiver request and still
begins classes is responsible for the payment of the student's
tuition and fees.
Federal:
Students can apply for a Title
IV (Federal financial aid) waiver. Up to two
Federal waivers can be granted, but they must
be for different reasons.
State:
Students can apply for a one-time
NYS TAP waiver. The student must document an unusual/exception
circumstance above and beyond the control of the student.
Examples of those circumstances would include death in the immediate family, student illness, car accident, required court attendance, etc.
