“There was a rainbow over the lake this morning. That was my Mom and Dad telling me,
‘Go for it!’”
Anita Peck Williams ran her family’s resort, Rosendale’s Williams Lake Hotel, after
her parents retired. The hotel symbolized a celebration of nature, family and community
since 1929. Anita ran the hotel from 1985 to 2007. When it became financially impossible
to keep up with repairs, Anita sought a developer who would properly protect the lake
and surrounding acreage and transform the resort for the next generation. Construction
is now underway for a development which Anita and her family can be proud of—one that
will also provide employment for many area residents, including graduates of SUNY
Ulster.
Anita joined the Ulster Community College Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors in 2009.
She founded The Anita Williams Peck Public Speaking Competition, which is held every
year in which Kingston High School students compete for scholarships to further their
educational goals.
“I have believed from a young age that the number one key to success is education.
Having served 11 years on the Rondout Valley School Board and having served on the
SUNY Ulster Foundation Board enables me to complete my goal of assisting others to
reach their potential through education.”
