Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I need to take LIB111?
A: LIB111 is a graduation requirement for all associate degree programs. LIB111 teaches research skills that are essential for successful completion of ENG102, ENG172, ENG227 and other courses that require research papers. Students who fail or withdraw from LIB111 place themselves at a distinct academic disadvantage.
Q: How much does it cost to take the test out?
A: There is no charge for the test out.
Q: What do I need to know to pass the test out?
A: You may be able to pass the test if you already know everything on the LIB111 course web site.
Q: Do I earn a credit by taking the test out?
A: You do not receive 1 credit for taking the exam. Passing the test out exam does not count toward financial aid.
Q: Do I get a letter grade for the test out?
A: No, there is no letter grade for the test out exam. A "pass" or "fail" note is added to your student record.
Q: If I pass the test out, then what?
A: If you pass the test out, you are not required to take the course. If you are already enrolled for next semester, you must initiate a drop for that class - it will not happen automatically.
Q: If I fail the test out, can I still take the course to try for a passing grade?
A: Yes, you must take the course if you fail the test out.
