Program Description
This 22 credit certificate program provides the basic skills necessary to be an effective database administrator. The program consists of a series of classes in computer information systems. Students have the option of applying the credits earned in this program directly to SUNY Ulster's Associate in Applied Science degree program in Computer Information Systems: Microcomputers for Business.

Employment Potential
Widespread use of computers in the workplace, in businesses of all sizes, has created a need for individuals trained in the creation, use, management, and maintenance of databases. This need exists not only in the Hudson River Valley Region, but nationwide.

Requirements for Program Entry

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Satisfactory placement in Entering Student Assessment

Developmental Assistance Available
For students who do not meet basic reading and math requirements, or who have other learning issues, extra assistance is readily available through SUNY Ulster's Learning Center, Times Square math lab, the Writing Center, the Peer and Friend Tutor Program, and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors.
