Admissions

SUNY Ulster makes applying for admission easy. The minimum requirement to enroll in a program of study (or matricu-
lation
) is the high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). One of the benefits of matriculating is that you may be eligible to receive Financial Aid for full or part-time study. If you do not want to matriculate, you may register for selected courses without applying for admission.

Special Admissions programs offering full-tuition scholarships, enriched academic experiences through Honors Studies, joint admissions with other SUNY schools, or Early Admissions for high school seniors, have additional requirements.

To receive an admissions packet and announcements of upcoming campus events that provide more information on these, just complete the Online Inquiry Form.

You may complete the SUNY Ulster Online Admissions Application as a first time or readmitting student, using the Admission Requirements and Checklist as a guide. Additional information is available if you are coming to SUNY Ulster as a home schooled student, readmitted student, transfer from another college or as an international student.

If you reside in New York State, but outside of Ulster County, you will need to provide a certificate of residence to receive the in-county tuition rate at SUNY Ulster.

When applicable, SUNY Ulster applies credits earned through Advanced Placement classes, employment-based training and credit by exam toward your SUNY Ulster coursework, through our Alternate Modes for Earning Credit.

These options may be of particular interest to you, if you are a returning adult student, attending SUNY Ulster to take selected courses, complete your degree or to pursue a second career.

After you have applied, you will need to take the Entering Student Assessment. This is not a pass fail test and will not determine whether or not you are admitted. Rather, the results assist your adviser in registering you in the appropriate courses to help ensure your success.

Although admission is generally assured for most applicants, SUNY Ulster does not guarantee acceptance into particular programs of study. In accordance with New York State law, the College reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant when it is deemed in the best interest of the college to do so or if the College determines that the applicant does not have the ability to benefit from the College's instruction.
