We look forward to having you as a student at SUNY Ulster. All you need to be considered for admission is a recognized high school diploma, a completed GED, or IHIP Letter of Substantial Equivalency.

How to Apply for Admission

 

The steps below outline our enrollment process for becoming a student in a degree, certificate, or microcredential program:

Application

  1. Fill out the online application.   
  2. Have your transcripts sent from the issuing institution[s] to admissions@sunyulster.edu
    • Official final high school transcript upon successful high school graduation indicating graduation date and diploma type. 

    • GED or TASC applicants have the option of bringing in their original high school equivalency diploma or test scores for us to copy.

    • If you were home-schooled in New York State through your local school district, submit your official letter of IHIP completion from your school district.

    • If you attended college previously, have all official college transcripts submitted as well.

    • Submit any alternate modes for earning college credits such as
      • Official scores from Advanced Placement (AP) exams
      • Official scores from College-Level Exam Program (CLEP) exams
      • College coursework taken in high school through other colleges and universities other than SUNY Ulster

Transfer Students

If you’ve taken any college coursework after graduating from high school, attaining your GED or TASC, or successfully completing an Individual Home Instruction Plan (IHIP), you are considered a transfer student. 

For Returning Students

If you have applied to SUNY Ulster within the last two years of your current application for readmission, your academic records remain on file. We recommend checking with our Enrollment & Success Center to determine if re-submission is needed. Otherwise please submit a new application.

For Military/Veteran Students

Eligible Service members wanting to use Tuition Assistance must receive approval from their Military Service Education Service Officer (ESO) or Counselor before registering. We have a military representative on campus who is available to help you understand and access your military benefits.
