The government pays billions of dollars each year to help students to go to college, and they often do that in the form of a student grant. A student grant usually goes straight to the college and does not have to be paid back.

Ulster Community College Foundation Scholarships recognize students just like you who strive for and achieve excellence. Each year, $1 million is awarded to entering, continuing, and transferring students. These awards enable students to begin or continue their educations at SUNY Ulster, or to further their studies by transferring to four-year school.

Student loans are a serious, long-term commitment. Apply for grants and scholarships first, to keep loan borrowing to a minimum. Students are expected to pay back loans in full, even if they don't graduate. Consider current debt and future borrowing needs when requesting loan applications.

The VA pays monthly benefits to eligible veterans, dependents, reservists, and service members while they are in an approved training program such as college, on-the-job training, and various kinds of technical training.
