TThe microcredential in Direct Care: DSP 1 provides an introductory foundation of knowledge in Direct Care Practice.  The Direct Care Practice: DSP 1 microcredential aligns with the national certification offered to Direct Support Professionals through The National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP).

The microcredential in Direct Care Practice: DSP 2 aligns with the national certification offered to Direct Support Professionals through The National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP). 

Upon completion of either microcredential, you will be awarded a digital badge that can be added to your resume and LinkedIn profile. 

MICROCREDENTIAL

After SUNY Ulster

Completion of either or both of these microcredentials allows direct support professionals to meet the industry demand for quality care of the populations they support. Credits from either microcredential can be applied to the Direct Care Practice Certificate and the Human Services A.A.S. or A.S. degrees. The Direct Practice: DSP 2 microcredential includes the option to complete the fieldwork required for the Direct Care Practice certificate/A.A.S. or the option to complete Psychology 101 included in the Direct Care Practice certificate and A.A.S. or A.S. degrees.

Employment Potential

With this microcredential, students are positioned to begin a career in the growing field of Direct Care Practice. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that this field has a projected growth rate of 22% from 2022 to 2032, a much faster than average rate than other occupations.
