Police Basic Training Requirements

Application Physical Agility Test

College Application

Admissions Overview

Acceptance into the Police Basic Training program is competitive based on performance on the physical agility test. While no admissions decisions will be made until after this process is complete, you may submit your free Admissions application to get the process started.

In addition to preparing recruits for future employment in law enforcement, SUNY Ulster's Police Basic Training Certificate Program satisfies 30 college credits of Criminal Justice coursework towards SUNY Ulster's AAS in Criminal Justice degree. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact policeacademy@sunyulster.edu.

Prospective students may submit their SUNY Ulster application as soon as it becomes available for their selected term. Evening students will apply for Spring semester admission, and daytime students will apply for Summer semester admission.

Upon completion of the application, prospective students must provide proof of high school equivalency, either through submission of high school transcripts or by bringing in their TASC/GED to be photocopied by Admissions staff. Students who have completed an Associate’s degree or higher may be able to submit an official transcript from the institution they attended as long as it indicates graduation date.

Students with credentials from an institution outside of the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by a NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member organization and sent directly from the organization to our Admissions department.
