Tuition

SUNY Ulster’s Police Basic Training program takes place over two full-time academic semesters:

  • Evening Program – Spring and Summer

  • Daytime Program – Summer and Fall

Please note that Police Academy Students will be responsible to pay an estimated $300 in equipment fees. Tuition and fees are subject to change. For the most up-to-date information, visit SUNY Ulster’s Student Accounts page. Tuition due dates will also be posted there.

Residency

Students who are residents of NY State, but not Ulster County will be required to submit a Certificate of Residency in order to be eligible for the in-county tuition rate. Students enrolling in January must provide a Certificate effective for the Spring term. Students enrolling in July must provide a Certificate effective for the Summer term.

Financial Aid

It is recommended that you apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships as soon as possible to ensure that they are available to you when you begin the program. You do not need to be a registered student to apply for Financial Aid.

Eligible students may receive Federal and State grant money and/or subsidized and unsubsidized government student loans to help pay for their tuition. To apply, you must complete the FAFSA and TAP for each year for which you wish to receive financial support.

Financial Aid years run from Fall to the end of Summer semester. This means that if you are applying for the Daytime program, you will need to submit applications for two separate aid years – one for Summer and another for Fall. If you are applying for the evening program, you only need to submit one application.

For more information on Financial Aid, you may visit the Financial Aid website.

Foundation Scholarships

Once you have submitted your SUNY Ulster Admissions application, you will have access to the SUNY Ulster Portal. You may use your login to apply for Foundation Scholarships

Payments Plan

As an alternative to a student loan, students may choose to get on an interest-free payment plan, which breaks tuition into monthly installments. Once you have been accepted and enrolled in Police Basic Training courses, you will be able to sign up for this on the SUNY Ulster Portal.
