Both a credit Microcredential and a non-credit Front End Web Development course are available to students.  The Web Application Developer Microcredential is designed to prepare students for a career in Web Application development. Students learn the fundamentals of computer programming including HTML, CSS, JavaScript Web Languages.  

Front End Web Development is structured around tutorials, assignments, and individual and group projects to give students hands-on practice building the pieces of code that determine how an online experience feels, and connect the user experience into the data-crunching processes of the back end.  Through lecture and individual assignments, students will establish solid foundations in key tools of front end developers: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, JavaScript/jQuery, and collaborative workplace/version control tool Github.


Course Offerings


Intro to Data Analytics

Course includes Input & Output; The Importance of Commenting Code; Sequence, Selection, Loops; Using expression and operators for calculation; Using functions as reusable code; organizing code into modules for reuse in other simple programs; using lists to organize data planning and using problem solving as an approach to writing programs, create classes to instantiate objects, enhancing input and output; Compiling Python in an online environment; understanding how notebooks work, building your own notebook to compile Python code. How to determine what the dataset contains; Cleaning the dataset using data wrangling and preprocessing techniques; Building a simple machine learning model to make a prediction.

Data Analytics with Excel

In this course students will gain the skills necessary to create and use pivot tables and charts, audit and analyze worksheet data, trace precedents and dependents, utilize data tools, collaborate with others by protecting worksheets and books, import and export data; convert text and validate and consolidate data; create and manage macros.
