Fluid Mechanics for Technician

This class is a study of the physical behavior of fluids, fluid systems and the laws describing this behavior. Topics include statics and kinematics, applications of Bernoulli’s equation, viscosity, laminar and turbulent flow, flow measurement and flow of fluids in pipes.

Manufacturing Internship I

Students will be engaged in practical work experience within the areas of Advanced Manufacturing or Green Technology. The parameters of the internship will be established between the student and the hosting organization under the program’s supervision. A contract specifying hours and a method of evaluation will be signed by the parties with sufficient hours for the credits earned. This opportunity will be open with the approval of the student’s academic advisor and the program coordinator.

Applied Learning I

This applied learning course provides the opportunity for the student to work in a place of business that utilizes any of a number of skills inherent within area of advanced manufacturing. A minimum of 270 hours of applied learning is required. This course also includes capstone projects as an option. Prerequisite: Permission of the Technology Coordinator

Music Appreciation

MUS 105

Students in this course learn to understand music through active, perceptive listening. Identification of musical elements, media, textures, designs, and genres is stressed. Course requirements include listening assignments outside of class. No music skill or previous experience is required.

College Chorus

MUS 107

Students in the College Chorus gain experience in the study and performance of choral music repertoire representing diverse genres, style periods, and cultures. Emphasis is placed on developing the vocal instrument and building choral music performance, ear training, and music reading skills. The College Chorus performs two or three public concerts each semester and is open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members. College Chorus may be repeated for credit and may be elected without credit.

Small Instru Music Groups

Students rehearse and perform with one of several available popular and classical small music groups, such as jazz combo, string quartet, Baroque chamber music group, and theater orchestra. Students select the proper group and a rehearsal time in conference with the instructor prior to registration.

College/Comm Concert Band

MUS 118

Participants in Community Band gain experience in the study and performance of varied styles of instrumental literature. The class performs one or two public concerts each semester. Throughout the semester students learn rehearsal and performance skills and the techniques of instrumental performance. Community Band is open to all students, faculty, staff, and persons in the community who have moderate proficiency on their instrument.

Introduction to Music Theory

The student will be introduced to the fundamentals of music theory through oral, aural, and written exercises. Topics to be covered will include: pitch, scales, key signatures, intervals, chords, and basic principles of songwriting. This course requires no previous knowledge of written music or experience with performance. Open to all students.

It is also highly useful for those seeking computer forensics and cyber security certifications and degrees. The course follows the proven, world recognized Cisco Networking Academy curriculum and incorporates significant online components including testing. Reliable Internet access is required for the student. There is an online component to this course. The course investigates network functions, tools and basic interconnectivity. It also studies the seven layer and TCP/IP models of networking plus IP Version 4 addressing schemes and planning. Students should be very familiar with modern Windows computers and be comfortable using computers before registering for this course.

This course is the second course of the four semester Cisco Systems CCNP ENCORE / ENARSI program. CCNP is Cisco’s most advanced program and can lead to coveted certifications and high level positions in computer network administration. The course will introduce the concepts covered on the Cisco CCNP ENCORE (Enterprise Core) certification examination. This course will also introduce topics from the ENARSI certification examination. There is an online component to this course. After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to configure Cisco routers for operation in large or growing multiprotocol internetworks. The course includes laboratory exercises that focus primarily on scalable technologies and the Cisco IOSTM software features that are most useful in building large or growing internetworks. These features include access lists, scalable routing protocols including Routing Information Protocol version 2 (RIPv2), multi-area Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Students will also study route optimization, route redistribution, route summarization and advanced IP addressing management.
